Western Aspen Alliance (WAA)

Utah State University’s College of Natural Resources and the USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Research Station are working together to develop an alliance to facilitate and coordinate research issues related to aspen communities of the West.  The Western Aspen Alliance (WAA) will facilitate cooperative research and field efforts and disseminate state-of-the-science aspen information to interested managers, researchers, the public, and other entities. The alliance will involve members of the research, management and stakeholder communities involved in aspen research and management.

• Western Aspen Alliance  Publishes Sudden Aspen Decline (SAD) Summit Report.  In February 2008, a meeting sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Research Station and Rocky Mountain and Intermountain Regions of the U.S. Forest Service was convened to share information on Sudden Aspen Decline (SAD) and discuss research and management activities dealing with the issue. The meeting was held in Fort Collins.
