If you are looking for driveway ideas then our short but consise synopsis below should give you an idea of the types of driveways available for residential properties.

Resin Driveways

Lets face it what is the first thing that visitors to your home see when they pull up to your home? From experience I can tell you that it is your driveway, this is what people will be talking about from when they get out of the car etc, whether your driveway looks like it has been carpet bombed or you have a newly installed resin aggregate driveway you can bet they will be talking about it with other guests.

Resin driveways are an outstanding feature of any property with the added bonus of extreme strength, flexibility, longevity, hundreds of colours to choose from and the very low maintenance.

Yes they are a little more expensive than other driveways but taking into consideration all of the above factors mentioned they really are they best value for money in the long run.

These types of driveways are also suDs compliant which means they are fully permeable which allows water to flow through the surface which in turn stops any surface water which in the winter months is paramount to stopping icey patches.

Block Paving

This type of surface has been around for a couple of decades now and still looks fantastice when its freshly installed, cleaned regularly and newley sealed, however if this type of driveway installation does take a regular amount of TLC and hard work, if it has been neglected for a period of time it could take a lot of hard work and machinery to get it back to looking good, weeds tend to grow up from the base, moss grows between the blocks, once this has taken hold the only sure way to get it back to how it was is to pressure washer the surface and re-sand with kiln dried sand.

Once you have revived the driveway to its original state it is relatively easy to keep it in this condition with twice yearly  maintenance, of course depending on the size of the driveway it may be worth while investing in a pressure washer for a couple of hundred pounds, it will save you so much time especially if you commit to your twice yearly regime in pressure cleaning your driveway, this piece of equipment cuts through the grime and dirst like a hot knife through butter.

Tarmac

Probably one of the oldest yet most used surface for driveways, pathways and car parks is good old tarmac or Tarmacadam sometimes reffered to as asphalt, it has been used for many decades and for good reason, it is relatively cheap, hard wearing and porous which means it can be used with out planning permission in the UK.

Tarmac has evolved in the last few years and now comes in various colours for those with a flamboyant eye, you do not have to have the standard Black tarmac that adorns everyones driveway.
