This portal provides a link to the activities of the Eastern Idaho Aspen Working Group, a cooperative effort of governmental agencies and non governmental organizations in Eastern Idaho. Working group members include resource managers and from the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, and the Idaho Department of Lands, as well as citizens from Eastern Idaho.

  • The last meeting of the Eastern Idaho Aspen Working Group was held held on Saturday, June 23, 2007. Meeting participants meet at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game building in Idaho Falls. The meeting began with a presentation from Jim Garner (Colorado Division of Wildlife) who presented on behalf of the Uncompahgre Plateau Project, Immediately following his presentation, participants departed for a field tour in the Falls Creek area. The field trip included review of past aspen projects and possible locations for future aspen projects. Contact Wendy Lowe Green for details.

 

  • The pervious meeting of the Aspen Working Group was Thursday, January 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Plant Sciences Lecture Hall on the Idaho State University campus in Pocatello, Idaho.  The program for the meeting included 1 ) lessons learned from aspen restoration projects in southeast Idaho and 2) three aspen projects that are being considered for the Montpelier Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest
  • In November 2006 the Eastern Idaho Aspen Working Group   heard presentations addressing "Perspectives on Aspen Management" from Marv Hoyt of the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, John Robison of the Idaho Conservation League, and John Carter of Western Watersheds Project.  See video recordings of this presentation on Pocatella Public Access Channel 12--Sunday, January 7--10:30 pm and Wednesday, January 10--6:30 pm.  Also see intro to meeting found on You Tube
  • Eastern Idaho Aspen Working Group Symposium.   A special aspen symposium was conducted on August 10-11, 2006 as a kick-off for the Eastern Idaho Aspen Working Group’s efforts or behalf of aspen habitats. The working group is a product of the Idaho Department of Fish and Wildlife's Mule Deer Initiative. There were over 40 participants in attendance.
